Isle of Man tennis player Billy Harris has been producing some great performances at the inaugural UK Pro Series and Classic events in the south of England.

The six-week tournament series consists of a men’s and women’s singles draw every week, involving some of the top names in British tennis.

Taking place at St George’s Hill Lawn Tennis Club in Surrey, the tournament got underway on July 6 and continues through until August 16. Players have one match each day in a round-robin format, with six players in each of the two groups.

The winners from each competition progress to the Classic finals week, along with a number of the next-highest ranked players throughout and also a couple of wild card entries.

Harris reached the semi-finals last week, beating Lloyd Glasspool in his group on his way to finishing fourth overall.

Earlier this week the 25-year-old defeated current British No.8 Liam Broady (formerly ranked fourth), and then had another win against ATP Tour player Ryan Peniston, before losing on Wednesday to Henry Patten 4/6 7/6 2/10 on a championship tie-break.

Two weeks ago Billy also beat Glasspool, the number one seed, in a British Tour event at the National Tennis Centre in Roehampton, southwest London.

Described on the tournament website as the stand-out result of the quarter-finals, the Albany LTC member produced a straight sets victory, 6-3 6-4 on centre court.

In the semi-final, he lost 1/6 2/6 to Alastair Gray, who plays college tennis in Texas.
