Local martial arts club Turiya Muay Thai hosted a seminar with former world champion Damien Trainor recently.

Since retiring following a successful fighting career, Trainor opened his own gym called K-Star Legacy in Birmingham, aside from which he helps to coach some of the highest-ranked fighters all over the world that compete in the UFC, Bellator, Glory, Lion Fight and many more high-profile organisations.

Turiya Muay Thai’s seminar took place at its base at Unit 37, White Hoe Industrial Estate in Douglas.

Fighters from all different disciplines across the island - boxing, MMA, Jiu-Jitsu and kickboxing - came together with the Turiya fighters and it proved to be a fantastic two hours of coaching from Trainor.

The next seminar takes place on July 25 with three-time world champion Yokkao and One Championship fighter Liam Harrison.

If anybody is interested in giving Muay Thai a go, the sessions take place on Tuesdays and Thursdays between 6-7.30pm, with a beginners class on Wednesdays from 6.30-7.30pm - all abilities welcome.
