A wet and windy Ramsey saw the Conister Bank-sponsored BMX Isle of Man Club Championships take place at the weekend.
The event proved to be the hardest-fought meeting to date on the new track and the weather didn’t win a single race.
First up were the five-and-unders which saw some great racing and there were wins for Cam Eyres and Casey Crone.
The latter was leading in the next two races but a crash in each saw him drop to fifth in the last race, leaving Cam to take the victories and become the 2017 club champion.
Jack Bullock was second and newcomer Oliver Kennington picked up third, with Lukas Garrett fourth and Casey fifth and rider of the day.
The sixes were next and Riley Cleator was fast out the gate but Finbar McSevney was there pushing all the way and took the win in race one.
Despite that, Riley claimed victory in the next two contest and landed the 2017 club champion title, with Finbar second and George Long in third ahead of Angus McCraith in fourth and Ethan Corkill fifth.
The age seven category witnessed some great, close racing but it was Brad Le Geyt who took home the championship ahead of Joe Huyton in second and Dylan Bullock third. Zac Woodward was fourth with Thomas Kellett fifth and twin brother Oliver sixth.
Up next was the girls and Africah-Rose Cleator was crowned 5-7 champion and Jasmine Dillon clinched the 8-9s honours.
The eights enjoyed more close racing but Eddie Dillon was top of the pile at the end, with Kal Waters close behind in second. Cameron Hounsell was third with Cameron Cleator fourth, Abban Cooper fifth, Stevie Dugdale sixth and Matthew Hooper seventh.
The nines age group title was won by Myles Le Geyt with Callum Hudgeon second, while in the combined 11-14s boys and girls Chloe Dillon was again in the mix with the boys and was the leading female.
However, it was the boys who filled the podium with Matthew Boyde taking the title ahead of Aaron Corfield in second and Joshua Gilardoni third. Danny Ball was fourth, Ryan Herdman fifth, Chloe Dillon sixth, Bevan Llewelyn seventh and Ryan Corfield eighth.
On to the last set of races which seen the old and very old 50-plus riders take to the track, Chris Clague was the winner for the championship men with Jon Huyton second and Wayne Garrett third.
Club chairman Iain Clague raced for the last time and picked up third in the 50-plus veterans, with Charlie Boyde taking first and Dave Le Geyt second. The club would like to thanks Conister Bank for its continued support of this event and also to all members of the committee and all that turned out.
