TREC Isle of Man hosted a festive arena event at Llamedos Equestrian’s venue on Mount Rule Road recently.

Under the watchful eye of judges Caroline Hawley and Cheryl Wrench, around a dozen competitors were put through 10 obstacles, some adorning festive decorations (ridden and/or lead) including ticket punch, roundabout (resulting in posting a Christmas card in a letter box) and ridden L.

It was also great to see the equestrians participating in fancy dress, with costumes including Santa Claus, the angel Gabriel, a Christmas cracker and the Star of Bethlehem.

This year has seen the club compete off-island at the TREC championship in Wales, host two outdoor competitions with two visiting TDs and the Manx Horse Council Team membership.

It has also seen an increase in their membership and those participating in the sport.

TREC recently held their AGM and a faith supper at the St John’s Utd clubhouse. Cheryl Wrench has been elected as their secretary.

The elected officers are: chairperson - Gillian Newey; treasurer - Jo Ralston; secretary - Cheryl Wrench.

TREC will enter the new year with a continuation of their winter series with a number of events planned for 2022.
