A total of 25 children took part in the under-13s badminton tournament held at the National Sports Centre over the last weekend.
The girls’ singles winner was Laura Garrity, who defeated Kelly Domingo in an excellent final 5/15 15/12 15/14. The plate was won by Fatima Syed.
The boys’ singles saw Martin Cheung secure the title for a third time with an emphatic 15/4 15/6 victory over Oliver Townell. The plate event was won by Oliver Cassidy.
Ameya Malikireddy and Domingo beat Sofie Partington and Beth Young 15/8 15/7 in the girls’ doubles.
The plate event was won by Syed and Garrity.
Singles finalists Cheung and Townell teamed up to defeat Ziyad Sultan and Advaith Malikireddy in the boys’ doubles final 15/8 15/4.
The plate doubles final was won by Gethin Bufton and Hugo Perrie.
Cheung picked up his third title of the tournament when he and Domingo won the mixed doubles 15/6 15/6 against Townell and Molly Bell. The plate event was won by Sultan and Syed.
