Valkyrs and Vikings go head-to-head in what looks like a stern test for the latter in the PwC Women’s Premier League this weekend.

Vikings have remained unbeaten for more than 11 years now and no-one has looked like they can beat them during that time. Many teams have come close, but Vikings’ resolve has always seen them through.

Valkyrs began the season by comprehensively beating Ramsey A to set themselves up nicely for this battle.

The favourites, as always, are Vikings but there could be a surprise waiting in the wings from their opponents.

Ramsey A and Bacchas A lock horns and, with both teams currently sitting on zero points after two games and both being surprised by newly-promoted Castletown, the result could be key come the end of the season in the relegation battle.

In the PwC Men’s Premier League, Vikings A will be favourites when they take on Castletown A based on form and results, but Town teams are always capable of a surprise or two.

Vikings A will be hoping to spring their own surprise against the impressive Ramsey A this weekend. Although the northerners currently sit bottom, they have played the two title favourites in their opening two games.

Bacchas A are aiming to secure their third win on the bounce this season when they take on Valkyrs A who, although having looked impressive at times, haven’t seemed clinical enough in front of goal to challenge for the title this year.

Women’s Division One is an interesting one this week with top-of-the-table Valkyrs B taking on bottom side Bacchas B. The latter have the personnel to challenge any team in this league but haven’t quite been able to find the finishing touch they need.

Saracens A take on second-placed Vikings B with neither team taking the favourites tag.

In Men’s Division One, Saracens A will be looking to continue their utter dominance so far against second-placed Harlequins A. The latter will, however, be a much sterner test for Saracens - with a well-organised defence, they will be hard to break down.

With George Powell in superb goal-scoring form, it will be difficult for Harlequins to keep them out but they have improved their attack and will certainly try and claim both points on offer.

Bacchas B will be favourites heading into their battle against Vikings C while Valkyrs B and Ramsey B should hopefully provide some entertainment in their contest.

Women’s Division Two leaders Castletown B are aiming to extend their stay at the top of the table against Bacchas C, while Valkyrs C will be looking to regain top spot against a strong Ramsey B side who narrowly lost out to Castletown B last week.

Men’s Division Two sees Castletown B enjoy a week off, therefore giving the teams below them a chance to catch up.

Harlequins B and Valkyrs C go into their game knowing whoever wins has the chance to take the lead at the top, while Bacchas C and Saracens B go head-to-head in a bottom-of-the-table clash.
