'We’re naturally delighted with the news that there is a commitment to run the sidecars at TT 2027 and beyond.'

That's the verdict of four-time TT winners Ryan and Callum Crowe following the announcement that three-wheel racing will return to the Mountain Course next year.

The sidecar class was suspended during this year’s meeting because of safety concerns after a red-flag incident involving the Manx brothers during qualifying, while Maria Costello and Shaun Parker were seriously injured in a separate incident.

A sustainability review was launched in the wake of these to consider the long-term sustainability of sidecar racing at the TT.

And that came to fruition last week when it was confirmed that three-wheelers will return to the event next year, albeit with significant changes to technical regulations and sporting format, plus being run over a reduced total distance.

Reacting to the news, the brothers from Jurby took to social media to say: 'A huge thank you to the organisers and everyone involved for the time and effort that has gone into securing the short-term future of the class.

'We’re hopeful this will provide the foundation for a long-term future too.

'Sidecars have always been a huge part of the history and identity of the TT, and we very much want to see that continue for many years to come.

'That said, there is a lot of work to be done between now and May to put the required package together, and the team are looking forward to getting started.
